sifting through the trough

Thank you Barry Blitstein, commenter on NY times article "Secret Lives of the Presidents" for highlighting the true difference between the egotistical artist and the assumedly humble public servant.

"If only, indeed! Wasn’t it Daniel Ellsberg who reminded us governments lie and have always done so? If a politician shed the disguises people seem to want, he or she would be as effective on the national level as Dennis Kucinic, a famously honest man.

I want my presidents to lie. If they were the kind of people who told the truth, they would be artists, who tell the truth even when they are lying."
